Man Utd line up £55m raid for French star, Roma cut price on another key player to boost transfers, Leeds legend targeting Baggies hotshot in shock swoop. Premier League hopefuls Man Utd have put French midfielder Manu Kon firmly in their sights. The Old Trafford giants know they will have to shell out a whopping £55m to get their man. Serie A rivals Roma could be prepared to sanction the sale of their prize midfielder. This is because they desperately seek cash to claw back financial issues that have arisen from their time in European football.
While United move for their primary midfield target, Matas Soul’s agent, Martin Guastadisegno, is on a mission across the country. He wants to open talks with both Sunderland and Fulham for his client.
“It looks like some important player have to be sold” Guastadisegno is said to have confirmed. “There are financially, well deserved interest from English clubs such as West Ham, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton as well as Manchester City and Chelsea, for [Matas] Soul. “However, Martin is in England this week to discuss the future with Sunderland and Fulham regarding a Premier League transfer.” Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Ederson from Atlanta but have cooled interest for the Italian. Instead, they have shifted focus to the French international. His agent in Italy is now preparing a potential move to the Premier League outfit.
With his club under pressure to raise funds to appease Uefa after falling foul of financial fair play rules, Roma’s price tag for Kon could be forced to lower significantly over the coming months. In addition, reports in Italy claim the club would accept €40m.
The midfielder signed for Roma for €4m, from their league rivals, before being transferred again to his parent club in Juventus for €7m in January, 2014. He then moved back on loan in July that year. He played an assist as Roma came from 1-0 behind against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico to clinch a vital Serie A victory, by netting in injury time. Meanwhile, Soul’s intermediary Guastadisegno has touched down on English shores to chat with the Premier League sides. He arrives with a view to taking the 21-year-old attacker back with him on a potential loan deal that could have an option to buy on.
Soul signed for Roma from Italian giants Juventus as a prospect after scoring twice for the Bianconeri. Having arrived in Italy at just 16, he has only now begun to really prove his worth in a side full of senior stars. He has netted for the Giallorossi this season in their impressive come from behind victory against Genoa.
The two have done business together for Guastadisegno for the past two and a half years. If an agreement were to be reached for the striker, then it would look a healthy profit of €20m for the Serie A side. The transfer to Juventus has a clause in it. This clause states if the club decide to sell Soul and a bid greater than €4m is received then they are obligated to pay Roma 15.5 million euros (just under £12m).”
Meanwhile, and looking for more striking reinforcements from across England, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up West Brom’s lethal striker Saloman Rondon as part of the new Jose Mourinho era.
Roma will not stand in Guastadisegno’s way for the transfer as the Italian club are keen to make as many as €20m for their young Argentine. This is because his value is rising after his prolific performance this term. Rondon is valued at a similar £20m after an incredible spell in the midlands where the former Russia international has scored a further seven goals in just eleven league games so far. This comes despite Tony Pulis’ side enjoying a disappointing start to the season, a situation that has highlighted just how talented the striker is. West Brom’s failure to win a game up until last week’s against a lacklustre Burnley has shown just how much they rely on their centre forward to bang in the goals to give them even the slightest chance.
Rondon recently signed a two year contract, so it means that if they are to sell him, then Tony Pulis could afford to buy in the striking position that they have so poorly supported him from a tactical perspective throughout his reign at the club. This is especially true with both Ba and Rondon struggling with injury at times during the season.
The signing of Rondon would add strength, physicality and finishing ability for United, qualities that have been severely lacking up front for the Red Devils this season, despite having a number of top class midfielders and wingers. United have found goals hard to come by this term despite having an array of attacking talent. However, this signing would inject some much needed life into their strikeforce. West Ham, Tottenham, Everton, Chelsea and even Premier League champions Manchester City are also believed to have been looking at the 28 year old. Therefore, the Red Devils will have to act quickly if they want to capture the forward.
